I want to go major in either biology or psychology and get into medical school. I plan to retake my SATs in October. I'm still waiting for AP scores to come in. I admit I've done this before, but that was before I didn't know my SATs.
moreResolved Question: I thought it was a great idea, what do you think? Summer crafts with the kids?
A friend of mine is going to Florida for the summer, she mentioned she might get bored, So i suggested "Gator Hunting"
Think of the possibilities!!
1. Bonding with the kids while hunting
2. Problem solving opportunities, ie how to get the gator in the car and home
3. Think of the conversations you'll have while skinning the sucker!
4. New recipes! Gator strew anyone?
5. The craft possibilities for the kids; shoes, belts, handbags. You won't even have to go Christmas shopping this year!
Thoughts?Go ahead and switch out animals for whatever you like less :)

moreResolved Question: Serious question regarding family and stepchildren?
I never post anything online like this but I am so utterly depressed that I thought why not? I need help with this and I don't know how to handle it. I have been married for 7 yrs. My husband's family hated me from day 1 (they always thought he could do better and made sure they voiced it at my wedding to others in the bathroom) Anyway - I have a child who is now 12 but she was 4 when we met. Since then we have had 2 children together a girl 5, a boy 2. I am very happy with my family, but my inlaws still treat me and my daughter unfair. They clearly make sure that we know that we are NOT part of the family in various ways. For example - on birthdays and holidays - they do give my child a gift (which is very appreciated) but they are no where in comparison to the gifts they give their biological grandchildren (ex. my daughter received an arts and crafts book for her b-day my 5 yr old got a PIANO that year) My oldest was the one who expressed interest in playing a piano - my 5 year old never even tried to play or showed interest. On holidays they give my 1000 dollar bonds to each of the two biological grand kids - my daughter receives nothing in regards to money. They have forgotten her birthday and few times in the past and when they create anything that has to do with Family (my sister inlaw made a clock with family names on it) they exclude her name as being part of the family. Over the summer they would call and ask to take my 5 yr old with them to the park or to a movie but never ask to take my daughter, etc. I think you get the point. Although they are nice to her (i.e. not mean) they do not treat her fairly. I originally thought it would get better with time - that they needed to know her better and honestly she wasn't noticing at the time so I was rolling with it...why cause waves if it was not bothering her. Well now she is old enough to see it and is asking some very difficult questions...like how come auntie didn't put my picture in the christmas newsletter but she put everyone else's in it? I am sick over it. My husband says 'i can't change them' which I do agree with but does that mean we do not say anything...and what about holidays...they expect us to be there at holidays with them but if they really don't consider us part of their family why should we be there? How do I protect my child? I have three children and I love them all equally. It hurts me to see that she is hurting over this. She doesnt have a set of 'active' grandparents...she has my parents but they dont do much for her (they love her but are not real involved) her grandparents on her father's side are dead - she never knew them. I want her to have the same opportunity as my other two children have...I know that I can not change my inlaws but should I allow them to pick and choose when we are part of their family and when we are not? It doesn't seem fair to me...please help - I need some type of advice on how to handle this :(
moreResolved Question: American Girl Doll Party Theme for my daughter turning 7 on April 1st...?
We always throw a big party for my daughter, she is our only child so we usually can do it up. And she will be turning 7 years old on April 1st.
I never had parties growing up so it's super important for me to let my daughter know how important she is to us and throw her a big party. That being said, my husband was laid off recently, we were going to be living in our new home but lost the house because of the layoff, so we live in a large sized basment of my mom n laws.
We have a very small budget for this upcoming party to be.
She is set on having an American Girl Doll Party. She got Molly from AG's from Christmas and hasn't let it down since.
So I am searching for any inexpensive ideas on having a party in this theme. I know she is from the WWII era, so patriotic would be cute. But things like games and crafts I'm at a loss.
I don't want to let her down, things have been super rough for us and I want to do this for her, so ANY/ALL ideas welcomed!
We usually just invite family and that is like around 12-15 kids of all ages. And usually their parents as well as aunts and uncles.
THANKS!!!!
moreResolved Question: If you could change just 1 thing in your life, what would it be? past or present (only serious answers please)?
if i could change one thing in my life, it would have been how i Treated my mom and dad when i was growing up. when your young, you don't understand how your parents REALLY feel about you. you really have no idea, until you have your own kids, i have my own now, and i'm telling you, i have never loved ANYTHING in the world or looked at anything in the world with such Love and compassion than these 4, they are what i call my "Mini-Me's" lol because that is exactly what i look at them as, they are somthing that came out of someone whom i love very much, and i grew them for almost a year, omg, i grew something, it is so weird and amazingly awesome at the same time, and they will depend on me for the rest of their life to be there for them as a mom, someone to protect them and lead them down the right paths when they're tempted to go down the wrong one, (and let me tell ya, they aren't lying when they tell ya temptation is a Mother F**ker) and a friend when they get older, that they can talk to about anything that's bothering them, or somthing thats happend to them in their life. it's an amazing feeling looking at somthing that just come out of inside of you, well now that they are getting a little older, they are starting to mouth off to me now, like i used to do to my mom (my dad died on christmas morning when i was 11, so he didn't deal with the ruff years of raising me, but he took hell from my sister and brother before he passed away, my brother broke his ribs when my dad tried to stop him from going to his friends house because he was grounded and wasn't allowed to leave the house) my dad and mom adopted 3 of us together my brother who was 4 my sister who was 2, and i was only 2 months old and they were already in their 50's) but we had whatever we wanted and needed, they made sure of that, and looking back at how they were treated by us, makes me want to puke....they gave up their lives to make sure we were taken care of and that we had a home to call our own,and they are why we were kept together as a family, and not seperated in the system... they didn't have to do that, but they had so much love in their heart for somthing that wasn't even theirs. now that is 2 awesome souls if you ask me........well my life went really sour when i hit 13, i moved to florida with my family, and me and my mom were eventually on our own, everyone else was gone most the time doing their own thing, and man, i treated my mom like shi* ALOT...i wanted to go out with my friends and drink, get high, hell yea, live the fun life, screw staying at home, screw school, screw it all, i figured i was old enough to do what i want, and it didn't matter what anyone told me, cause it's my life, not theirs, when really now that i'm grown, i look back at how retarted i must have looked when i was telling my mom to piss off, when all she really wanted was to make sure i was safe and ok from the world around me, i had no idea how dangerous it was to take off walking at 2 am by myself on the streets, and how worried she must have been sitting up all night imagining the worst, (cause thats what we moms do) i felt like crap the first time my daughter said she hated me, and it made me think of the times my mom cried when i told her that, but i didn't care....and neither does my little girl, she don't understand how much i love her, even when i spank her butt, it really does hurt a parent more to spank their kid, because when they do it, it bugs the kid for a minute until the sting goes away, but it haunts the parent all day asking themselves why did i do that why why why...it's crazy, how the things you think are dumb when your young, makes total since to you when you finally grow up, and realize the world isn't what you think it is when your younger, it doesn't care about you at all, and when your on your own, it's a lonely world...does this make since to anyone???
and please, to the younger ones on here, love your parents, even when they are being complete as*holes (i know i can be one to my kids when they make me upset) but remember all the crap that they have done for you, you dont remember laying in your crappy diaper and no way to get out of it, but your parents wiped your poop for you, come on now, who else is gonna do that? you think for one second if you got hit by a moron driving down the road today and you had no way of wiping your as*, do you think your parents would let you lay there in your dunk? i woulnd't let my kids, but i wouldn't wipe a strangers butt, would you??? not likely, but their moms would.....anyways, i have written a damn book, so time to get off here and do arts and crafts with the little ones....Peace!
moreResolved Question: Want to share neat ideas of things we have done?
Just fun little ways we have reused items, or craft projects we have done with our toddlers, etc.
1 - When I was pregnant with my daughter I couldn't find a baby blanket that was slightly bigger than the typical baby blanket. My son had been given one as my shower, but I couldn't find one for my daughter! It worked perfect for him to cover him fully to bring him from the car to the house when it was windy or rainy or he was sleeping once he had outgrown the infant carrier seat. So i decided to make one for her myself. Then while in the store buying fleece fabric (pink leopard print strawberry shortcake!) I got an idea, so I bought extra fabric. I made her baby blanket with it (big enough to last her until she is 3-5 years old, but not the big regular size fleece throws) and then saved the rest. This year for Christmas (she turned 20 months old 9 days after) I used the rest of the fabric and made her two baby doll sized blankets! On Christmas morning we set up one of them in her new stroller, and the other inside her new baby bassinet. She loved it! She thinks it so neat that her baby dolls have the same blanket as her!
2 - My kids are only 12 months and 4 days apart, so while my son was about 6-7 months old and eating baby food well in his high chair, he started looking for things to play with. I didn't want all of his toys to get covered in food, so I made him a toy from my prenatal vitamin (aka children's chewable Flintstones!) container. I put uncooked elbows in it, but you could whatever type of pasta you want. Then I put the childproof lid back on and he made music! I didn't have to worry about it getting covered in food, I knew he couldn't open it to get to the pieces, and he loved making music! It was better than any rattle!
Now what are some fun things you have done for your children?
moreResolved Question: Has your mother-in-law ever said anything nice to you?
My husband and I have been together for 4 years, married for 2, and have a 11 month old son.
My MIL has never said a single nice thing to me ever. I ignored it at first but lately it has really been bothering me. In fact, everything she even says is almost an insult.
When breastfeeding, she never said anything nice or any encouragement, she just told me "her breasts were too big and she couldn't," she also said "besides, breastfeeding are only for mothers with a lot of time on their hands," which pissed me off.
For Christmas I spent a lot of time making these beautiful candies and different cookies to make beautiful cookie trays to bring to every ones houses. I spent from 8:00 p.m. after my son went to bed to 2 am working on making these things for a week. When I brought her a tray she tells me, "I usually always make cookie trays as well, its just this year I was too busy, I don't have as much spare time as you do." Then when we were at another families house when they gave me a compliment about them, she cut them off to say, "Remember my trays, they are always nice, I just didn't have the time, you know me, busy, busy, busy."
For Christmas for all my sons grandparents I made little plaques with his foot and hand prints, age, and first Christmas on it. I made the dough from scratch, wrestled my son forever to get good prints and a put a lot of time in care in creating these and practicing calligraphy to write on them and make them a nice keepsake. When she opened hers, she tells me, "oh, I am really crafty as well. Isn't it nice having kids, then you can give out "CHEAP" gifts." She called my gifts "Cheap"!!!! And I have never seen her craft a single thing!
When she calls me (which is rare), She always says, "Hi, this is (insert FIRST and LAST name), (inset my husbands name) mom calling." Its like hello, you don't need to leave your first and last name, and refer to yourself as my husbands mother, I know how you are. You are my child's freaking grandma for god's sake!
The first and last time she ever hugged me was at my sons welcoming party, and the only reason she did it is because a bunch of her friends that I barely even knew came up and hugged me first.
When we leave after a visit, she always says, "I love you and then only includes my son and husbands name." She doesn't have to tell me she loves me, because I know she doesn't, but she doesn't have to say it so blatantly!
She's always going on and on about how great she thinks my husbands cousins wife's are to me as well, even though she has never said a single nice thing to me or about me!
So my question is, is your mother in law nice to you? If not, how do you deal with this situation. I have talked to my husband about it, and he agrees, but when it comes to his mother he never has an easy time saying what he means to say because she hardly lets him get a word in edgewise.
I also don't want my son seeing when he gets older how she treats me. What do I do???? Suck it up to keep the piece, or speak up and possibly make her hate me more? Thanks for taking the time to read this if you did...lol... didn't realize it got so long, I just wanted to give some examples on what is going on.
moreVoting Question: What's the biggest mess you [or your kids] have ever made?
Once myself and my two sisters [all under 3yrs] made 'Christmas Treats''.
Ingredients:
2 litres of Boysenberry Icecream.
Once large box of Rice Bubbles.
One carton of Juice.
One 2kg bag of Flour.
One 2kg Bag of Sugar.
One box of Salada Crackers.
Various Food Colours.
Cocoa.
Milk.
Eggs.
Jelly Crystals.
Peanut Butter.
The mess was so bad, my Mum took photos and listed all the ingredients.
This was ALL over the floor. [Some in the [un-lit] oven, too].
So much for a Christmas Surprise...
Another time we got a BIG bottle [3litre] of Craft Glue and poured it all over the carpet. We smothered our books with it, including between the pages. My Mum had to throw out about 40 books. [She saved about 50, but the pages were a little crinkled!].
What are your stories?

THESE ARE PARTS OF MY COLLEGE APPLICATION SO ANYTHING TO CHANGE WOULD HELP GREATLY!! THESE ARE JUST THE SUMMARIES OF MY EMPLOYMENTS AND TOP FIVE ACTIVITIES/AWARDS.
One of my positions was to work the kid check stand; the position of kid check required one to greet families and stamp children's hands with their corresponding supervising adults to protect the children from being stolen by other adults. When families exited, I would check to make sure their stamps matched to those of their supervising adults and then send them off with a friendly goodbye. Another position I held was cashier; I, as cashier, would take purchases from customers and ring up their orders. I also would work the merchandise position; in merchandise I would collect tickets acquired from customers and in return give customers prizes. Each position also involved cleaning of the worker’s surrounding area and organizing of the worker’s job materials.
My duties involved cleaning the store and transferring the written documentations of each piece of merchandise into the company's computer system.
I was blessed with the opportunity to volunteer at the Live Oak Bull Street Library by participating in their annual fundraiser, Tails with Twigs. I helped the library staff set up for the event, partake in arts and crafts with the children, and play games with the kids. Through being a member of the National Honors Society my junior year, i was able to volunteer at the Tales with Twiggs fundraiser again that year. I had such a wonderful time volunteering and gained such marvelous memories from the experience that this school year I have volunteered at the Live Oak Bull Street Library two hours every Thursday and took part in the Live Oak Children's Book Festival.
I was awarded the Algebra I Scholastic Award and the Conceptual Physics Scholastic Award my freshman year in high school. Due to my success in the fields of math and science, I was officially nominated as a USA Mathematics Winner in the year of 2007.
I have been a Volunteer Program Aid at the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace all throughout high school. I aid the Birthplace by taking part in their Girl Scout Brownie Days where brownie scouts from all over the United States come to visit and tour Juliette Gordon Low's, the founder of the Girl Scouts, Birthplace. I welcome the brownie troops, give them summaries of the house's history, and assist the girls in games and crafts.
I have been an active member in the Fine Arts Club for the past three years and gained the office of President this year. Our goal is to better the school through the creativity of art. I have assisted in organizing, setting up, and participating in the annual school art show "Reflections" and ARTZ BLITZ, a week long program in which students get to participate in one type of art class. We also participate in volunteer art projects that our community can benefit from. For example, the Fine Arts Club partakes in the Make-A-Wish Foundation's Annual Festival of Trees and Wishes where different associations decorate Christmas trees which are auctioned off to the highest bidder; the proceeds go to non-profit organizations. Our club's Christmas Tree took home the second highest bid last year.
I was chosen as a member of the selective club, Savannah Science Seminar. I, along with the other chosen students, attended two to three seminars where I was involved in informative presentations and participatory workshops in the fields of engineering, technology, mathematics, and the medical practices.

moreResolved Question: Advice on how I craft my novel plot?
I was told my novel plot was realy a short story and did not have enough events to be a novel. So how can I craft it into a novel. The title of my novel is "The Object of Envy".
It will focus on a 28-year old man who travels back to his home town after he lost everything. His career, wife, kids and reputation all gone because of one single "mistake". That "mistake" and the guilt eats away at him for months and ultimately he hits rock bottom in life.
Thats when he decides to head back home for Christmas. What his family and friends believe to be a vacation for him is actually his last ditch effort to get his life back on track but he hides everything from everybody. He puts on a facade and pretends to have it all although inside he knows he has nothing.
But something happens while he is at home. He begins to percieve things around him differently. In the midst of his struggle, everybody around him seems to have it all. His brothers, friends, even his high school sweetheart all seem to have something which he used to have and now wishes he had back. Thus grows envy inside of him.
The novel narrates a 2 week period from Dec. 17 to Jan.1. A 2 week period in which a man is engulfed by the guilt of his past which he hides from everybody and envy of his present in which everybody in the small town of Cambridge have what he wants.
How far will his envy take him? How far will he go to hide his past? And to what lengths will he do to get what everyone else has? Betrayal, Stealing or maybe even murder?
He doesn't necessarily want what everyone else, he just doesnt want them to have it. They all have something which makes them an "OBJECT OF ENVY"

moreResolved Question: Christmas arts and crafts for the kids on Christmas Eve?
We like to do crafty type stuff on Christmas Eve, for fun and to make the time go by quicker. We used to do place mats (drawings or cut-outs on big pieces of construction paper when they were little) but the kids are getting a little old and bored with place mats.
We need a good Christmas project. Nothing expensive; our craft box is already pretty full, so we already have lots of supplies. They are boys, so no angels or frilly things (mom gets outvoted....) Anybody have any good ideas?
Also, we avoid crush-able projects, because we like to keep our works of art from year to year.
Thank you in advance for your help and please, no rude answers - Merry Christmas!
moreResolved Question: Would this punishment be abusive?
It has come to my attention that my 9 year old daughter has been relentlessly tormenting a classmate of hers whom is suffering from cancer. She has been calling her "Baldo" because of her hair loss due to chemotherapy and doing other inane things such as staggering around her with a stick for a cane and groaning "Ughhh....I'm dying!" In arts and crafts class, she made a tiny coffin out of popsicle sticks and stuck it inside the poor girl's desk.
Seeing the fact that I personally watched my own dad succumb to cancer when I was only 13, I am completely livid with rage at the insensitivity and cruelty coming from my own 9 year old girl, and twice as enraged that she would find such a horrific ordeal FUNNY! I'm so infuriated, I'm still shaking as I type.
After the Christmas break when she has to return to school, I am going to shave her head completely bald just like the girl is, trade her stylish eyeglasses for huge nerdy ones, and make her wear ridiculous clownish looking clothes so she can have a taste of what it's like to be ridiculed. In addition, since the afflicted girl is too sick to play in gym sports, recess, and whatnot, I'm going to tell them make my daughter sit out with her too so she can feel what it's like to be sick constantly and not be able to run and play with all of the other kids.
Then in addition to THAT, whenever the family goes on outings to fun events, I'm going to say to her "Oopsie--doesn't look like you're feeling well! Gotta stay with the babysitter tonight and just watch cartoons! Yeah, that's cancer for you. Not so fun, is it?"
There is no excuse for making fun of a child sick with cancer, and I want her to be on the receiving end along with this suffering child so she can know what it's like.
And I want this to continue until the sick girl HERSELF says that my daughter and her are best buddies.
What do you think?Okay, well then how about I just shave her head and have her sit out with the sick girl during sports and recess, as well as no family outings? I want her to feel what the girl feels!Lukas: This is a forum for adults. Go watch Spongebob.

Or is it just some cutesy little custom or meaningless tradition. Why teach about Hannukah or the 7 principles of Kwanzaa- why not teach the 10 commandments? What is the difference. Dont those who celebrate this "holiday" take it seriously......or is it just some cutsey custom or silly tradition? Why dont they teach about the meaning of Christmas, instead of pushing Santa Clause and krismis trees and presents? I have 3 children and I cant pay to send them to a good school; so they go to public school. It just really hurts that my son has come home every year for the past 4 years with menoras and Kwanzaa principles in his bakpak always around Christmas; and he doesnt learn what he reallly needs to learn. He says he likes Kwanzaa better than Jesus. It makes me frustrated and angry. Am I just getting overworked or am I right to make thes e observations?
My son brought in a little Christmas project the other year and we pasted some things on paper about what we do for Christmas. We put a Nativity scene and a picture of us at midnight mass amongst the christmas trees and pictures of presents being opened and glued glittery snow flakes and ornaments and all. She sent a message and said she asked seth not to speak on those pictures, Becuz it may offend other cultures.
I was angry.
Was my anger misplaced?
What should I do for next year?

moreResolved Question: What should I do, my daughter is in too many activities?
My daughter is 6 and I am so excited because of all the fun activities! So as part of her Christmas present, I decided I would let her choose some activities or sports or classes to take. So she is now taking:
-Indoor soccer(which she has been doing for about a year)
-An arts and crafts class(something she is trying with her lil sister)
-Girl's Gymnastics/Tumbling(which she really likes!)
-Brownies/Girl Scouts(most of the first grade girls are in it!)
-Ballet(she loves this!)
-Jazz/Hip Hop(she loves this!)
-A kid's baking class(she's doing this with her cousin who's 7)
Well, Mondays she has a long school day because of Brownies which is directly after school.
Tuesdays I have to rush her to ballet, home for a snack then an hour later we're rushing back to arts and crafts.
Wednesdays she comes home for an hour them she is at soccer until 7.
Thursdays, gymnastics.
Fridays, she has soccer again.
Saturday, she has her baking class, then jazz/hiphop.
Sunday we finally get a break!
But she is so exhausted! She is having fun but I feel like these are too many activities since she is so little! And she would throw one of her "diva tantrums" if I threw my foot down and said we're taking you out of so and so.
What should I do?Thanks guys. I think her favorite activities would be the 2 dance classes and soccer, and I'll keep her in the arts and crafts too because her lil sis loves that so much.

moreResolved Question: Does your husband or wife hog all the glory and recognition for things you both do?
My husband started an after school football club (soccer) for the kids. He sorted out talking to the school to get the gymnasium etc. However, since it started, I have been doing all the adminstrative duties, taking payments, taking forms, talking to the parents, he just does the coaching, with two more dads.
We had a Christmas party for the kids last night and I ended up sorting the party out, he borrowed some CDs and a stereo and spent the night sitting there playing music and playing football. I cooked all the food, sorted out the food in the first place, sorted the craft to do, set it up, and did all the clean up afterward. Did the crafts with the kids, made sure to thank all the parents for thier contributions and handed out the goodie bags.
Well he comes home today to tell me, yeah I got a nice compliment. I said oh yea? He said yeah all the teachers were talking about how great the football is and how great I am for doing that for the kids and all the parents and kids loved the party and bla bla bla. This is a regular thing that people refer to just him as running this program for the kids.
I was a tad bit offended knowing I've put in just as much effort if not more than he has, but yet no one considers I have anything to do with it, he's just in the spotlight for everything. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to negate his pride in himself.
Do I have a right to feel offended by this or should I just stay quiet? I'm considering telling him to take over the entire thing if he's going to act like he has done it all anyway. But our kids are involved and I won't let them down.
moreResolved Question: Activities for troubled children- winter? Christmas?
I work at a facility that assists children with psychological needs. We are an after school program and from time to time, we like to do fun stuff.. but the fun stuff must be helpful (therapeutic) in someway.
I have done a TON of crafts and groups with these kids and am currently running out of ideas. I know the best ideas aren't those written in books, it's ideas from you fine folks that also work with kids of this nature.. If you could be as kind as to share something with me or help direct me I would appreciate it.
Thank you!
moreResolved Question: What should I do tomorrow while babysitting?
Tomorrow, I have to babysit three kids from 12:00 until 3:00. I will have to feed them lunch, so that will take up some time, but I don't know what to do with them for the rest of the time.
We usually make crafts or cookies or something. And since it is right around Christmas time, I would want something based upon that.
The kids are all boys and they are in 2, 3, and 4 grade. It is too cool to go outside or anything, so we would have to stay indoors. If you have any recipes ideas, plzzz tell me and also send the recipe if it wouldn't be too much trouble!
Thanks so much!
moreResolved Question: Do you remember this craft and know where I can order some?
When I was a kid I used to make these things that were like stained glass. You start with little metal frames and you place them on foil on a baking pan then you put these little plastic pieces into the frames and bake in the oven. When its done the plastic has melted and looks like stained glass. I had made a set of Christmas tree ornaments from a kit I think came from the sears catalog. If you know what they are called or where I can get some please let me know.
moreResolved Question: Looking for Christmas Crafts for Kids?
Hello! I have been asked to lead a Christmas Craft day this Saturday... I am not a very "crafty" person! (They were stuck, and I hate saying 'no'). Anyway... There will be 8 kids (I think). Between the ages of 8-12. It is a 2 hour 'event'... Which means I need enough crafts to fill this time.
I've googled and googled, and just get swamped and overwhelmed - everything either looks too easy for 8-12, or too hard... Or the supplies are too "out-there".
I'm hoping for about 3 different crafts to fill the time...
I really appreciate any ideas people are willing to share!! :)
Thanks in advance!

moreResolved Question: What christmas presents should I get for my friends?
Ok, I have these four friends who are like family to me, and I want to get them all good christmas presents this year! But I don't know what to get them.
-The oldest is a 15 year old girl. She's not a girly girl at all, but she's kind of on the verge of becoming a young lady I think. [what I mean is that she is really into video games and hanging with the guys, but she's starting to dress like a girl and wear earings and stuff]
-the second child is 13. She's too years younger than me but she's my best friend. She is mature for her age [she acts like a 15 year old, not a new teenager] and she is really fun and crazy.
-the next kid is 12 [she just turned twelve] and she is VERY mature, also. She hangs out with me and my friends [and we are 15] she's a total girly girl, but not the kind that is like "oohh nail polish!" She is just very feminine.
-and the last child is a 10 year old boy. He is just that. he's very little boyish. and he's very adventurous. He likes skateboards and going through the woods and stuff. He is crazy and really out there.
What would be ideal gifts for these four? As much as I would love to buy them all expensive gifts, I only have enough money to spend between 5 to 10 dollars on each person.
Any ideas?
[also, sense the 12 year old girl just had a birthday, I need to buy her an extra present. She told me she wanted earrings, so I got her some, but I feel like it's just not enough. What else could I get her?]
THANKS!
oh, and last year, I made them all picture frames, so I don't want to do that, but any kind of craft ideas would be cool too!

Any sort of fun, christmassy craft is good. And using supplies like construction paper, scissors, yarn, ribbons, stuff like that. Help?! moreResolved Question: Can a person be fired for refusing to participate in a workplace activity based on his/her religion?
I work in a kindergarten run by a Christian organization and a Jehovah's Witness was hired. During the interview she had been asked if she would be able to participate in holiday events or teach the children songs, crafts, etc. related to certain holidays such as Christmas and she answered "yes" but mentioned a few exceptions (like dressing up for Halloween or wearing a Santa costume, leading birthday parties, etc.) Well, we are 2 weeks away from a big Christmas musical event where her class is supposed to sing about 4 or 5 songs including solo parts, learn lines, etc. (this was all explained back in September as being part of the schools curriculum and she had no objection to teaching the kids the music and lines, but did say she could not be IN the musical) and she hasn't even begun teaching them now claiming that she "doesn't do Christmas". All of the other classes have already learned their songs and we are supposed to be in the final practice phase of putting it all together! The parents are livid, not to mention the school's staff (especially me since I am the program director and was on maternity leave the last couple of months and assumed her class would be ready for the final practice by this week!). Can she be fired or refused another contract based on this? The contract says that the teachers must participate in all programs and events related to the school's curriculum, but it is rather vague about exactly what "participate" means.
Of course I am even more livid with the principal for hiring her in the first place! As for the kids, at the moment I am scrambling to help them learn as many songs and lines as possible within this short time frame and am trying to corale all the parents to work hard with their kids at home. All other curriculum has been scrapped (besides lunch and a shorter recess) in that class until the performance, so these kids are going to be spending their entire waking hours for the next two weeks learning their lines and songs so they can perform (btw, they are supposed to be the "stars" of the show because they are the graduating class). Poor, poor kids is right!
